The House of Gordon is now truly united.

Read the news this morning during the ritual pre-work morning duties:

John Edwards to quit presidential race

Rats.

Ending it where it began: New Orleans.

He's not endorsing another candidate. Yet. However, this particular Edwards campaign contributor will not wait to endorse another. Kimberly and now Chris both have their own profile pages on http://my.barackobama.com/ At any rate, we're betting it's a done deal his delegates go over to Obama as well.

Another vice-presidential bid coming? Or maybe even better, an Attorney General cabinet post? Good luck John. You will be missed. Greensboro's just 45 minutes from Chapel Hill. Swing over and get yourself a hot meal here at the House of Gordon sometime.

Who's missing?

Dennis is, that's who. In last night's Nevada debate, Big Wigs in the television industry did not want Representative Kucinich to appear espousing views that do not align with, and frankly may startle, the more "mainstream" candidates. Sad really. I realize that Kucinich has no hope in winning; but in a debate of candidates, and the record will reflect that Dennis is indeed still a candidate, one would think that ALL views would be welcomed. Not so. “When ‘big media’ exert their unbridled control over what Americans can see, hear, and read, then the Constitutional power and right of the citizens to vote is being vetoed by multi-billion corporations that want the votes to go their way,” the Kucinich campaign said.

Sigh.

At least with all the schmoozing and making-up that Kimberly's boyfriend Barack and Hillary were doing over the recent race snafu, it was an opportunity for Chris's boyfriend John to seize the opening and make a firm statement or three versus his rivals on Iraq, nuclear plants, and receiving big money from Big Pharma and insurance. “Do you think these people expect something, or are they just interested in good government?” ZING!

Slowly coming around to the fact that maybe Edwards has as much of a chance as Kucinich does to win this nomination, but I'm glad he's sticking with it "all the way through to the convention."

Boyfriends again vie for the Gordons

So, a while back the Edwards family sends Chris an email holiday greeting. Then the Obama family sends Kimberly an email holiday greeting with a video. Now the Edwards camp raises the stakes for Gordonian love by sending an email yesterday with another warm holiday greeting along with a video. (And yet, neither has matched Jimmy Carter with sending the Gordons a paper card in the mail...)

Dear Friend,

The holiday season is a time for family, a time to give thanks -- and a time to think back on the year past. There have been many special moments this year as John and I have traveled around the country. It has been exciting and energizing to see thousands of people connect with John and respond to his message of change. And we have both been inspired by the support of people like you. This past week, John was joined by two of my favorite singers, Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Browne, at a town hall meeting in New Hampshire. Take a moment to watch this video clip -- it captures the feeling of warmth and hope that we feel every day on the campaign trail. This is one of my favorite songs. I hope you will take a couple of minutes to watch it, and share it with your family and friends over the holidays.

John and I want to wish you and your family all the best for this holiday season. May it be a time filled with hope, warmth, happiness -- and special moments like these!

Sincerely,
Elizabeth Edwards

Sadly, Kimberly's boyfriend Barack always sends emails with "Dear Kimberly", whereas Chris's boyfriend John sends them as "Dear Friend". Come on, show Chris a little more love, John!

Edwards family greeting card

Received this in email from the campaign today:

Happiness. Health. Hope.

But our words are just a promise about our actions. Live deliberately, sacrifice for what is truly important, and, above all, in these times -- and all times -- trust your heart.

John & Elizabeth Edwards, Cate, Emma Claire & Jack

Merry Christmas!

Find your candidate for 2008.

Have a little fun with this website:
http://www.wqad.com/Global/link.asp?L=259460

It's an interesting "quiz" to take to see where your views line up with the presidential candidates. Some intriguing nonscientific results (to say the least) have been discovered within The House of Gordon:

  • Kimberly, a dues-paying member of Friends of Obama, aligned mostly with John Edwards.

  • Chris, a solid Edwards boy, aligned mostly with,....wait for it...., Dennis Kucinich. GASP! (To quote Kimberly: "Who knew I was married to SUCH a left-wing liberal?")

  • Sam and Maxie, being dogs, are in fact not registered to vote and therefore did not take part in this little assignment.

What are your results? Whatever they are, just VOTE when it comes time for the real thing.
