Secondary Tree Acquisition Complete

Here's the story: there is a little specialty shop in Greensboro called Fleet Plummer that has a sensational Christmas display and inventory. For quite some time, we have been browsing there looking for gifts for others and/or ourselves, but in the past two years our story had taken a turn. They had a deliciously gaudy and borderline garish green skinny metallic tinsel tree. But alas, with Kimberly in school and just the one income, we chose not to spend frivolously. Jump to 2007 and Kimberly has her nurse anesthesia degree and has become the primary bread winner. On to Fleet Plummer for the skinny metallic green 7' tree that Chris so adored!!!

Come to a screeching halt. They're not carrying it now.

GASP! What??? Inquiries with the staff revealed that now that "everyone is carrying the metallic green Sterling Christmas trees" Fleet Plummer has none in stock. We are advised to try "anyplace in town" from JCPenney to Target to Lowe's to Home Depot. Money to buy one is in our pockets and we are denied???? The horror.

Now begins the onslaught of searches for this holy grail of fake trees. Gas up the Jeep and let's hit some stores!

The obnoxious Christmas 365 store in Burlington SURELY must carry them. Nope. Just blue, red, & gold.
JCPenney? Nope.
Lowe's? Nope.
Home Depot? Nope.
Target? Nope.
Belk? Nope.
Metropolitan Deluxe in Durham? Nope.

Let's try online:
Sterling's website: Nope. Sells directly only to retailers.
eBay? Nope.
Crap.

With each passing disappointment, Chris grows more and more despondent and somber. What to do?.....

Then, an epiphany hits. Target.com! Lo and behold, the shrill and saucy green metallic tinsel tree by Sterling is an internet-only sale online with Target. To quote C-3PO: "Thank the Maker!" The House of Gordon house's landing is gussied up with our newest Christmas acquisition.

Life is indeed good.
